“Horses are predictably unpredictable.”

January 31
I cannot believe it is January, it is almost 60 degrees out and the sun is shining. What a great time to start some show planning. Along with some local schooling shows we plan to attend HITS Saugerties in July for three weeks. If you would like to participate this year please let me know soon so that we can address training appropriately in our lessons this spring/summer. Also for those of you interested we will be returning to the PJA Jumper show at Swan Lake in June.

We had a great turnout at our Indoor Progressive horse show on Sunday. Thank you to everyone that toughed out the frigid temperatures. This is a quiet week at the farm and it is looking to be a little warmer. Enjoy.

Well another paddock is complete! Only 4 more to construct to complete that phase of the conservation improvements. On the horizon the jogging machine footing is to be redone. Did you know that you can have your horse on the machine daily for only $125 per month. That is guaranteed daily exercise dirt cheap!

Happy New Year to everyone. Two new clients are added to the VF boarder roster. Nadiya and her two very big show horses and Karin with her sweet pleasure horse. Welcome them here when you see them - a very nice fit to the barn.

We hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas and Hannukkah. This month has brought in a few more clients to the farm and a few more are to come in early 2012. It is nice to see the barn practically full again! A full barn means a lot more imrpovements to the farm! We do have two more stalls available if anyone is thinking about our farm as a new home in 2012.

A successful show this past weekend at Hunter Farms for Emily and Marissa was a great way to end the week. This week's starts the rolling in of the holidays. Everyone gets so busy preparing for Christmas and it gets harder and harder to get to the barn. Remember even if to feed your horse a mint and leave it will help clear your mind ... keep your horse on your "list of things to do!"

Great to get back to a routine after a good weekend of showing last week. This week is a big week for a few of our beginner riders as they make the shift to our intermediate instructor. Finally the weekend will bring us to Hunter Farms for a schooling show on Sunday.

We had a great time at our annual Show Team Banquet! We have great things already planned for next year. We have already officially named Days End Horse Rescue as our official charity. Alongside all our show team fund raising we will donate to this great charity. Also, we are thinking of going "old school" with next year's awards ... think silver.

The aroma of turkey surrounds me as I write this and I am reminded to how very thankful we are all year round for the wonderful people here at the Village Farm. Over the years people have come and people have gone and what remains is the Creme de la Creme! Thank you for choosing The Village Farm!!!
